What are the potential and prospects of bioremediation during deep-sea spills? Kill•Spill researchers Alberto Scoma, Michail Yakimov and Nico Boon have compiled latest findings and open questions around this issue in a mini-review recently published in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology. Their paper "Challenging  Oil Bioremediation at Deep-Sea Hydrostatic Pressure" highlights knowledge gaps and proposes a holistic approach where in situ and ex situ studies are integrated to reveal the principal mechanisms accounting for deep-sea oil bioremediation.
