National Research Council (CNR)

The National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization promotes a wide diffusion of its competences throughout the national territory and at facilitating contacts and cooperation with local firms and organizations. CNR has co-ordinated a number of projects funded by the EU and other international and national structures. The Institute for Coastal Marine Environment (IAMC-CNR) works on biological oceanography, particularly with regard to ecological assessment of coastal and open waters, marine and brackish fish farming and evaluation of nekton and fishing resources. The Water Research Institute (ISRA-CNR carries out fundamental and applied research activities in the fields of management and protection of water resources and in developing methodologies and technologies for water purification and treatment of wastewater.
Main tasks in the project:

  • OMICS analysis of HCB activity in experiments and assessing Kill•Spill products and prototypes (WP4)
  • Field Tests of the most promising "products and technologies" at IAMC-CNR Facilities (WP8).
  • Develop novel bioelectrochemical processes for remediation of contaminated sediments (WP5)
  • Characterize the microbial communities involved in hydrocarbons degradation (WP5)
